For more than 50 years, Haydon has been at the heart of our community, providing an ambitious education for young people in the local area. Our history is one of growth, achievement and opportunity, and our future is shaped by our vision that every young person has the capacity to achieve individual excellence within a caring community.
Sometimes the messages that make us proudest are about the little things our students do when they don't even realise anyone is noticing. We recently received a lovely message from a local parent who regularly finds herself waiting at the bus stop alongside Haydon students: "We're usually waiting for the bus at the same time as lots of Haydon students and, without fail, they're always polite and friendly." She told us her young daughter enjoys greeting people while they wait, and our students consistently take the time to respond with kindness. The parent had been meaning to contact us for much of the last school year and finally sent the message as "a nice note to start the new year on". It certainly was. Academic success matters enormously, but so does the kind of young person our students become. Knowing that the values we talk about at Haydon are being demonstrated naturally in our community, beyond the school gates, is something worth celebrating. To the students who have shared those bus-stop conversations: thank you. You probably didn't think anything of it, but your kindness was noticed. #SpaceToGrow
