London to Tokyo - Sports Week Challenge

Haydon is Walking London to Tokyo for Sports Week

As we look to move into the penultimate week of term and towards the summer holidays, it would have been the PE department’s busiest week… Sports Week!

Naturally that can’t happen this year, just like the Tokyo Olympics, so we are asking you with your families, to join the PE department in running or walking from London to Tokyo, yes that’s 5,938 miles!!

Over the course of next week, whether you walk the dog for 1 mile or run 3 miles we want you to add it to a form  so we can see how far we get. With over 2000 students and around 200 staff this is very possible and very exciting.

Alongside completing this fun challenge as a school, we are giving you and your families the option to donate to a very deserving charity. Having heard the sad news during lockdown that a Haydon student has been diagnosed with Bone cancer, we felt it would be a great way to keep us fit and donate to this charity to help get our student fighting fit again. The link is below for you to make your donation. Bone Cancer Research - https://www.bcrt.org.uk/

The challenge starts on Monday 6 July until Friday 10 July and we will keep you updated with our progress on twitter @haydonPE and on Instagram Haydonpedepartment. Why not tag us into your stories and posts and we will retweet them on our account (and you might see a few of your teachers’ faces and our stories as well).

We wish you luck and don’t forget to warm up properly beforehand. Run it – tag it  – log it – donate!

Yours sincerely

The Haydon PE Department
