KS4 Year 8 Options

Although we are not able to run a ‘face to face’ options process this year, we are confident that you will still be able to access all the relevant information needed to successfully complete your child's choices

To support you in making your decisions we have created a dedicated area on the school website, this will regularly be updated, we advise you regularly revisit it to view any new content. This is the link - KS4 Year 8 Options. I would advise you to review the Curriculum Guide which gives you a good overview of the intent, implementation and impact of each subject area and the frequently asked questions document. Curriculum Leaders have also produced detailed presentations and videos which will give you a greater depth of information regarding the nature of qualifications and also the content students will cover over their three years of study. I would strongly encourage you to view the information for all subjects before you make your choices and consider their contents carefully before you discount any.

There are a number of key dates you need to be aware of to support the options process:

  • 1 - 18 March - Information shared with students via Satchel and during form time. Parents and carers can use this information via your Satchel login. Website and FAQ document regularly updated.

  • 18 March - Live options Q&A session at 5pm led by Mr  MacLean and Ms Appleby. This will also be recorded and available on the website. This is the link to the meeting.   19 March - Options google form live to students, via their lgflmail email account.

  • 28 March - Options google form closes to students.   1 - 18 April - Parents / carers window to approve options using SIMS Parent App. Can you ensure that you have accessed the SIMS Parent App before this date in case you need technical support.

  • 30 April - Communication sent confirming choices.

If you have questions regarding the options process or subject specific questions we have created a google form for you to submit them to us. Mr MacLean and myself will be monitoring the questions coming in to this form and asking departments to respond to them. This will be the most effective way for you to raise any queries.
