Welcome

“At Haydon, your child won’t get lost—they’ll be found. We offer the space, support, and ambition for each student to grow into who they’re meant to be.”

On behalf of the students and staff, I'd like to welcome you to our school. I am incredibly proud of our learning environment, our high standards, and the amazing achievements of our students and staff.

Our vision is Achieving Individual Excellence in a Caring Community. We believe every student can become an exceptional learner and achieve success through perseverance. This aspiration drives us to maintain very high standards and expectations, which our students consistently meet. My aim as Headteacher is to create a school where young people can be happy, enjoy growing, and truly thrive.

At Haydon, your child won’t get lost—they’ll be found. We offer the space, support, and ambition for each student to grow into who they're meant to be. As one of the largest schools in the borough, we provide the physical, academic, and emotional space for every student to develop as a confident, capable, and compassionate young person. We are proud to provide an environment where high expectations are matched by deep care, and where every student is known, valued, and has the space to belong. I am also very proud to work alongside established teachers, leaders, and support staff with a proven track record of delivering high-quality learning and excellent outcomes for students.

Student Development

The quality of our teaching and the breadth of our curriculum ensures that our students continue to perform successfully in public examinations. This is supported by an outstanding pastoral team who dedicate significant amounts of time to support all of our students and an outstanding extra-curricular programme. There are a large number of sports teams, opportunities to participate in school productions as well as music performances. We have links with the Royal Shakespeare Company and The New Vic in Waterloo, and our students have had the opportunity to perform at both.

We also have a vast trips programme, including a sixth-form trip to Korea, an across-school trip to Japan, curriculum trips to Rome and Athens, and outward-bound adventures within the UK. We also offer annual ski trips and team-building opportunities. We have a thriving Duke of Edinburgh programme, offered at all levels. Last year, over 186 pupils completed a Bronze, Silver, or Gold award, ensuring our students leave Haydon not only with excellent results but also with the skills and experiences to reach the fullness of their ambitions.

Modern Facilities

We are continuously investing in our school’s infrastructure. We have significantly enhanced our sixth-form facilities and are currently improving our energy usage by installing solar panels on all roofs and air conditioning/heating units in all classrooms. As a Google school, we embed new technology into learning, and all students use Chromebooks to enhance their education. We have also installed site-wide Wi-Fi to support this.

Teaching your child is a privilege. Children are unique and precious, and it is a huge responsibility to be in charge of their secondary school education. We take this role very seriously and will ensure that they are safe, happy, and able to thrive. We look forward to welcoming your son or daughter to the school.
