Kirkland Rowell Parent Survey 2011

Thank you so much to the hundreds of parents who took the time to complete the Kirkland Rowell parent survey. We are delighted with the response and are happy to announce that Haydon School parents still believe that we provide an EXCELLENT education for their children.

Haydon School is eager to continue improving and striving to provide the very best experience for the students. The parent feedback highlighted some areas in which we are endeavouring to improve;

• Careers Service – due to government funding cuts, we will no longer be offering the same service as last year. We have employed a new careers team and are very hopeful that the level of care and guidance for students looking to further their education or enter into employment will be of the very highest standard.
• Community spirit – the pastoral teams, Student Voice and various faculties across the school are working hard to develop this feature of our school. The House competitions will be more competitive this year and all students will be actively encouraged to contribute to life outside of the classroom.
• Healthy lifestyle – the canteen has introduced a new healthier menu for students and the popular ice cream van, now offers frozen yoghurts and healthy alternatives. Students are taught about the importance of a healthy lifestyle in PSHE, PE and Sciences lessons and it is regularly discussed in Form Time.

We have been encouraged and inspired by the overwhelming response to the Kirkland Rowell parent survey and have had a number of parents contact the school enquiring as to how they can contribute further to the school community.

We are pleased to announce that Haydon School is soon to be launching Parent Voice – a forum to improve the links between home and school and an opportunity for parents to have an impact on the Haydon School community and their child’s education.
