Fundraising for ‘The World Scout Jamboree’

Friday, the 1st of February is a non-uniform day. The money raised for the non-uniform day will be supporting 4 of our own Haydon students in their efforts to attend the World Scout Jamboree  (put on by Scouts worldwide) in West Virginia, USA. These 4 students are Scout members (part of unit 21 out of 100 in the UK Contingent).

The students are:

Giacomo Chiapponi (year 10)
Holly Skingsley (year 12)
Michael Kossobucki (year 10)
James Shacklady (year 10)

The jamboree is a camp hosted every four years, each time in a different country. For a week, Scouts and Guides spend time learning about other cultures, countries and sustainable living.
Over 130 countries are scheduled to attend the 2019 Jamboree, with a grand total of 45,420 people expected to arrive on the opening day. For Additional Information: https://www.2019wsj.org/the-event/why-2019-wsj/

What does it mean to the students?

"By helping us raise the money to complete this trip you are helping us give back to the community while gaining life skills,
We wish to gain information about the world and experience culture we have never seen before. After the jamboree many
of us will strive to volunteer at the next jamboree."

What does it mean to others?

"By helping us raise the money to complete this trip you are helping us give back to the community while gaining life skills. We wish to gain information about the world and experience culture we have never seen before. After the jamboree many of us will strive to volunteer at the next  jamboree."

The last non-uniform day we raised as a school £1548 for Grangewood School. For the previous non-uniform day we raised £1504 for the Make A Wish Foundation.

The next non-uniform days this academic year are:

22/03/2019 - Meningitis Research in memory of Caitlin Baker
10/05/2019 - British Heart Foundation in memory of Ben Wright
05/07/2019 - Cancer Research in memory of William Lowe
