About Jack Petchey

Established in 1999, The Jack Petchey Foundation gives grants to programmes and projects that benefit young people aged 11-25.

The Foundation exists to raise the aspirations of young people, to help them take advantage of opportunities and play a full part in society.

The major focus of their work is the Achievement Award Scheme. The Foundation focuses on London and Essex since it has been established the Foundation has awarded grants totalling over £70 million!

The Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme enables schools to recognise effort, endeavour and achievement of young people. Each month (except July, August and December) an award will be given to one student. These awards are not about being the best but to recognise those special young people at Haydon. A student may get an award for:

  • Helping others
  • Being a good role model
  • Coping with adversity
  • Doing community work
  • Giving service within the school community
  • Just trying really hard

A student may only receive ONE award during their time at school.

The winner receives a framed certificate, a Jack Petchey Young Achiever in badge and £200 to be spent on a school or community project of their choice.

All Achievement Award winners are expected to attend the annual Borough Ceremony to receive their medallions. This award ceremony is usually held each April at The Beck Theatre.

Nominations forms can be downloaded by clicking here or collected from the Library or staff room. Students, staff, parents and governors may all complete nomination forms which should then be placed in the box in the Library or staff room.

Our Student Voice along with the Inclusion Team will be involved in choosing the Award winner from the nominations each month.
